The Leadership Agenda: Leadership strategy and insights for senior leaders in tech

As technology accelerates, senior leaders are being asked to make faster, higher-stakes decisions in environments with less certainty than ever before. One thing is clear: AI does not replace leadership responsibility. It increases it.

Leadership now requires asking better questions, understanding of bias that can occur in data sets, and setting better guardrails. The bottom line? If you want to outsource something to technology, you need to know what good looks like.

Learning about tech and the complex nature of frameworks, documenting and prompt engineering is crucial. We know it can be complicated so that’s why we’ve put together a guide of what leadership looks like as tech accelerates.

Should leaders outsource decision-making to tech?

The short answer is no. Technology should inform decisions, not replace teams entirely. AI, and data insights can accelerate decision making and improve efficiency when used appropriately, but they do not absolve leaders of responsibility. When businesses treat technology outputs as truth rather than input, they risk embedding bias from narrow data sets, narrowing critical thinking. Which has become more critical than ever.

The most effective leaders use a human in the loop approach. They challenge outputs, apply contextual expertise and take ownership of the final decision. In this sense, the question you should be asking is not whether leaders should use technology. It is how, and whether or not they’re equipped to interpret it responsibly and decisively.

What are the common issues in tech leaders face in 2026?

Tech leaders are working against algorithms defined by biased data sets, ambiguity and unawareness. This creates room for decision-making to become increasingly reliant on bad data and users who are not well equipped to understand whether or not the data set is reliable.

There is also a growing pressure for leaders to be able to know if something generated by AI is factually correct. Documenting prompts and using inclusive language frameworks will be key to making sure that key company intelligence is not being accidentally given away when using generative AI.

What does the future of tech leadership look like?

Optimistic. Why? Leadership credibility will increasingly be defined by how well leaders navigate the complexity created by an increase in the use of AI. This builds a stronger case for diversity, which continues to evolve and re-brand, as leaders re-build the commercial value case for DE&I and support for LGBTQIA+ leaders.

Building in public is becoming a go-to avenue for young leaders to show their entrepreneurial spirit and leadership traits. In the age of social media, reverse ageism is also a challenge for the future generation, many of who are stepping into leadership roles for the first time. Ageism also remains a constant challenge for seasoned leaders who need to demonstrate an understanding of AI and tech.

Ultimately, one thing remains certain. At The L Factor Ltd, we believe that diverse thinking strengthens judgement, and reduces strategic risk when you have the right leadership team around you. Leaders who thrive will be those who understand this.
